Meet GavinGAVIN BAYREUTHER
FOUNDER · PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY PLAYER
Nearly a decade in the professional game — now building the next generation of Maine hockey players with the standard, detail, and pathway of the pro level.
NHLAHLNCAASwitzerlandA Letter From GavinDuring the past few years, I've spent a lot of time thinking about what comes next — not just for me as a player, but for the game I've loved my entire life and the community that helped shape who I am.
Growing up in Maine, hockey wasn't just a sport — it was a way of life. Early mornings, cold rinks, backyard ice, and the kind of grit that only comes from truly loving something. That foundation carried me through prep school, college at St. Lawrence, and eventually to the NHL, AHL, and professional leagues in Europe.
But somewhere along the way, I realized that the most meaningful thing I could do with everything I've learned wasn't to keep it to myself. It was to bring it home.
Bayreuther Hockey Club was built on a simple belief: that young players in Maine deserve access to the same level of professional development, coaching, and structure that I experienced at the highest levels of the game. Not watered-down fundamentals — real, purposeful training that challenges players to think, compete, and grow.
Whether you're a six-year-old just learning to skate or a high school player with aspirations of playing at the next level, BHC is designed to meet you where you are and push you further than you thought you could go. We focus on skill, hockey IQ, competition, and character — because the game demands all four, and so does life.
This isn't just a hockey program. It's a community built on the values that the game at its best has always taught: hard work, accountability, resilience, and the kind of love for the sport that doesn't fade when things get hard.
I'm incredibly excited about what we're building here, and I'm grateful for every family that has trusted us to be part of their player's journey. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you and your family.

THE JOURNEYFrom Maine to the pro game — and back.
01 — PREP SCHOOLCardigan Mt. School & Holderness School
Cardigan and Holderness taught me the value of independence, discipline, and being part of a tight-knit community. Those years laid the foundation for everything that followed — both on and off the ice.
02 — NCAA Division ISt. Lawrence University
Playing at St. Lawrence challenged me to grow both as a player and a person. Those years reinforced the importance of leadership, academics, and learning how to push through adversity.
03 — AHL · NHL · SwitzerlandProfessional HockeY
From the AHL and NHL to playing professionally in Switzerland, learning to adapt, compete, and earn my spot every single day against elite competition drives how I coach today.
04 — FounderBayreuther Hockey Club
My ultimate goal is to take everything I've learned throughout my career and pass it down to the next generation — helping local kids discover the same love for hockey that first began on an outdoor rink.
MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY
The standard remains the same.
Every player is different, but the standard remains the same. My goal is to create an environment where players are challenged, encouraged through detail, and excited to come back.

BEYOND THE RINKThe full picture.
FamilyThe greatest accomplishment of my life is my family — my wife, Bridie, and our three kids, Hayes, Walker, and Collins. They are the heart of everything I do.
Where It All BeganMy love for the game started in the backyard — shoveling snow off natural ice and building rinks with my dad. Countless hours on that ice — thousands of shots and endless street hockey games — shaped not only the player I became but the coach I hope to be.
HomeLife in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. There's nowhere else we'd rather be.
What Success Means to MeYears from now, I hope Bayreuther Hockey Club is remembered not just for the players we developed, but for the people we helped shape. Balance, work ethic, and never being satisfied — those are the sports and life habits that will serve them far beyond the game.
